Boutique of Quality Books Publishing Company
Today's New Writers; Tomorrow's Best Sellers
Showcasing New Authors
Boutique of Quality Books Publishing Company (BQB Publishing), located on the north side of metro Atlanta, is a hybrid publishing company that focuses on new authors from all over the country. We publish books of all genres, including novels, self-help, children’s books, and more.
BQB opens the doors to publishing for new authors who have the passion and dedication to get their quality book published. Although our authors are involved in the upfront costs of publishing their books, we are not a self-publishing company because our quality standards and requirements must be met upfront. However, we are not a traditional publisher either, because the author has a voice in the whole process, including editing, designing, and printing. And after release, the author retains at least 50% of the royalties and more as book sales increase!
The business model for BQB was designed from an author's perspective and respects the author’s needs and desires to be involved in taking their manuscript from a rough form all the way to a published book. And all along the way, BQB provides guidance and quality controls that are inherent in a traditional publishing company.
Combining Traditional and High Tech Options
Although self-publishing has brought some good books to the marketplace, authors who self-publish often don't have the creative assistance that is available with a large publisher. These authors may also not have the expertise or the time to do the marketing required to bring a book to the attention of the buying public. BQB has done the work in finding exceptional editors, illustrators, and book designers that are an instrumental part of producing a quality book that is ready for publishing. Then, with today’s print-on-demand technology, the book can be brought to market with low front-end costs and large back-end percentages. And if larger orders are needed, offset printing services are available, too.
As most authors know, it’s difficult to get the attention of traditional large publishers. This leaves many great authors without an option other than self-publishing. BQB has been designed to bridge the gap between these two options.
Marketing Your Book
Using our experience, knowledge, and contacts, BQB helps market each of the books we publish by using press releases, social media, Internet promotions, book signings, wholesale promotions, book shows, and membership in bookseller associations. We also work with each of our authors personally to assist them in marketing to their local communities and target audience. BQB makes marketing a joint effort, where BQB and the author both have the same objective, but work at it from different ends of the spectrum.
Our Criteria and Manuscript Submission Process
We begin by reviewing your manuscript or book. Our manuscript submission guidelines are available on our website at www.bqbpublishing.com or can emailed to you by contacting terri@bqbpublishing.com and requesting them.
BQB reviews all books and manuscripts that are sent to us. If it meets our quality standards for writing and story line, we will work with you and advise what needs to be done to prepare your book for publishing. Whether your manuscript needs rewriting, minor editing, illustrations, or just print preparation, BQB will be with you every step of the way.
What Makes Us Different
While you have many options for getting your book published, very few independent publishers offer the kind of ongoing support that BQB offers. The top three advantages that BQB offers are:
Once you become a part of the BQB family, you have a marketing partner from that point forward. You are not left to your own devices to get your books into the hands of the buying public. Many publishers can get your books on to Amazon or on BarnesandNoble.com (even self-publishing companies), but very few will help you with local and national marketing campaigns, represent your books at local and national book fairs and festivals and keep you advised on new opportunities as they arise.
Our authors step into selling their books even before they are published. We not only help market to individuals as well as booksellers around the country, we have also been very successful in garnering publicity such as television appearances, radio interviews, blog programs, and newspaper and magazine articles for our authors. BQB does all of those things. Once your manuscript is accepted and you join our family of authors, BQB becomes not only your publisher, but your partner as well.
Costs and Process
Authors who are accepted by BQB get the unique opportunity to personally oversee the entire process from start to finish yet have the guidance and expertise of BQB team members in creating a high quality book and getting it out into the marketplace with an effective marketing plan.
After a publishing contract with BQB has been signed and a 50% deposit has been received, BQB will identify one of our editors that we think will be a good match for you and your book, and our Production Manager will introduce you to the editor via a phone call to ensure they are a good match for you. If the match is good, you will receive an editorial contract that lays out the costs of editing as well as the timeframe and payment schedule. If the match isn’t good for you, our Production Manager will continue to work to match you with an editor that works well for you.
Once an editor is selected, our Editorial Manager will oversee the process as you and your editor work together to make your book the best that it can be. Because a quality editing process includes several steps, once your book is edited, it will be reviewed by a BQB proofreader before it goes to our book designer to get it ready for publication.
If your book is a children’s book that requires illustrations, BQB will help with that part of the process as well, with you choosing the illustrator that best suits your vision for your book.
When the project reaches the book designer, you will be involved in choosing the fonts used for both your chapter headings and your text, then the designer will create the format and look of the book. You will pay for the costs of editing and book design as well as any interior illustrations or cover illustrations, but BQB consistently guides and assists in the process of bringing your manuscript to a publishable format.
At the same time you are working with our creative vendors, BQB will begin the process of bringing you into the BQB family, posting your bio to the BQB website, compiling your press kit, and putting the following steps into motion. The final 50% of BQB Publishing fees are due and payable within 60 days of signing the contract. The total cost for BQB services (excluding editing, book designing, and illustrating, which are paid separately) is $1,295 and includes:
With publishing costs, along with editing and book design costs, plan on spending around $3,000 to get your book published and out to the marketplace. (If you are doing a children's illustrated book, this price could differ depending on the illustrator that you choose and the number of illustrations in your book.) Because BQB uses POD (Print on Demand) technology, you will not have the costs of having to pay for printing hundreds of books at one time, but will be able to order them as you need them (as little as one at a time) for any selling you do personally. There is no cost involved for you with the books that are sold through BQB but you will be paid royalties from the books that are sold in these methods. The stronger the marketing that you and BQB do, the more books that will sell.
